Meet the Founder
Coach Anthony founded Advanced Sports Training in 1997 to help local athletes perform sport at a higher level and to improve their chance of garnering a sports scholarship. Coach Anthony began his sports training career designing post surgical and rehabilitative exercise programs at Contra Costa Physical Therapy for 11 years. During that time he personally trained bodybuilders, power lifters and other strength athletes. In 1999 Coach Anthony was hired as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Contra Costa Colleges football team, a position he held for two seasons before moving on. To gain more knowledge Coach Anthony traveled the country attending seminars and strength coaching intensives hosted by some of the most respected coaches in the business. He has learned under such great coaches as Remi Korchemny and Charles Poliquan, and studied intensely the methods of Ian King, Scott Sonnen, Mat Furey and Charlie Francis. Anthony has spent twenty years practicing advanced internal martial arts, combat conditioning and yoga which also greatly influenced his training philosophy. Coach Anthony is determined to keep Advanced Sports Training cutting edge, therefore he continues to study and constantly improve his methods. Coach Anthony has designed and implemented successful strength and conditioning program at the Middle School, High School and Junior College levels. He has personally trained a great number of athletes from the Bay Area and has had athletes travel from out of state to train under his program.

Football Program

Increase your lean muscle mass 10 to 40 pounds if needed by doing extensive muscular hypertrophy training.
Lower your 40 yard dash times by .02 to .06 tenths of a second.
Learn to change directions quicker and under control.
Perform Hybrid Olympic lifts, explosive lifting and numerous exercises plyometrically to increase your power production.
Gain the ability to use your whole body as one unit.
Methods used to train power lifters will increase your bench press, squat and dead lift.
Become stronger and bigger without losing any athleticism or fluidity.
Junior Athlete Program - 12 to 18 Years Old
Become physically prepared to perform at the High School Level.
Learn my system from Martial Arts of instantly improving focus and performance by using the breath and concentration to activate certain power centers.
Train safely and appropriately; primarily muscular hypertrophy training with light loads of 50% to 60% of maximum which has been proven to cause no joint damage.
Perform from low to medium volumes of bodyweight exercises which I have found excellent for a beginning athlete to build strength.
Learn efficient jump mechanics.
Gain improved balance and body control.
Become more flexible by performing loaded and non-loaded stretches in various planes of movement.

Descriptions of the Training Programs
The Junior Athlete will follow Planned Training on a system that is progressively adapted to handle increased volumes of work and heavier loads. When the physical system has achieved a certain level the Junior Athlete will advance into a higher level of training.
The Intermediate High School Athlete will follow a system that emphasizes increasing lean muscle mass for a two week cycle followed by a cycle that increases strength and power. This type of training will continue until the athlete is mentally and physically ready to train at the highest level.
The College and Professional level training programs follow an advanced micro-periodization model for two weeks where strength, power, muscular endurance and hypertrophy cycles are all trained in a bi-weekly cycle. Followed by two weeks of the Former Soviet Unions most advanced program called the Conjugated System which enables athletes to train with heavy loads for the entire training year without accommodation is more emphasized at this level.
